Join us for an evening of live music featuring Camellia Boutros and Luhtakizz. Camellia Boutros is a multi-instrumentalist based in San Francisco, California, and her music draws on her experiences growing up on the West Coast and in the Arab world. She has performed with Michael Morales, Vooo, and Michael Booker in numerous jazz, rock, and brass bands on the trumpet. During the 2020 lockdown she turned to Arab music with the stringed instrument known as the aoud, and modified a 12-string electric guitar to be able to play in the quarter-tone Maqam system. Now she’s writing music and lyrics that blend together her experience in rock, folk, jazz, Arab, and brass band music, all of which can be found in her first solo album Refuge. Luhtakizz is a R’n’B group from Richmond, California.. members include Vocalist Dejoni Desai, Guitarist Ryan Schaeffer, Pianist Mikey Mcghee, Drummer Genesis Ruben, and Bassist Jeremy Zacca.. Their sound melds a mixture of flavors drawing their soul from influences in RnB, Gospel, and Rock.. Let’s say a bit of Pop/Rock’s(KANDii GiiRL) music also. Desai aka Mistah Luhtakizz brings life to his music with impressive vocal finesse and energy. Helen St. MixR is a collaborative platform supporting freedom of expression, music, food, art, and artists of all kinds. Community based. Community inspired.

The professionally trained musician attended Humber Music College and is part of a tight knit community of musicians in Toronto with whom she consistently collaborates including guitarist and producer, Justice Der. Their cover of Frank Ocean’s“Forrest Gump”has nearly 2 million streams on Spotify. At the age of 16, Rachel embraced the then popular social media platform,Vine and began amassing an audience sharing performance videos covering artists such as Leonard Cohen, Frank Ocean, and Bon Iver. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Mazzy Star, Elliot Smith, and My Blood Valentine, her confidence grew, and she began writing original songs and developing her own unique sound. In November 2020, Rachel self-released her debut EP,And It’s the Same. Organic editorial playlisting across Spotify (NMF Canada, Outliers, Indie All Stars, FreshFinds) helped spread the word further. She was also named one of RADAR US’s Artist to Watch for 2021.
